Tzu Chi Medical Foundation is pleased to invite Dr. Paniz Heidari from Northridge Hospital Women’s Center to talk about the Cervical & Breast Cancer Screening, as part of Tzu Chi Healthy Community program.
Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the cells of the cervix. Various strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted infection, play a role in causing most cervical cancer. You can reduce your risk of developing cervical cancer by having screening tests and receiving a vaccine that protects against HPV infection.
Breast cancer is also the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer death in American women. Awareness of the symptoms and the need for screening are important ways of reducing the risk of breast cancer.
